While I have never read any of Ellen Hopkins books before, I was aware that she wrote in verse and didn’t think that was for me. Coupled with the basic, unappealing cover, I don’t think I would have picked this one up had I not had the opportunity to read the First Look. Once I started reading “Sync,” I quickly realized how much I enjoy Hopkins unique writing style! There is a poetic flow to her words and she manages to tackle difficult topics with eloquence. The only thing I’m not a fan of at this point is the unique character names, as they are awfully distracting. Nonetheless, I can’t wait to read on and see how Parker and Lake’s relationship progresses. I’m also eager to find out if Storm and Lake will eventually reunite. There is definitely trouble on the horizon and I can’t wait to see how everything unfolds!
