As someone that works in foster care, I really appreciate this very real representation of a child's experience, especially when siblings are involved. I'm drawn to Storm and Lake and their stories. I also enjoyed the poetic flow of the text.
The synopsis I read says it's told through unsent letters but I wonder, letters to whom? Many of them are to each other, but if they are all meant to be to each other, some read strangely. Perhaps some are also journal entries?
I feel that the cover and characters names emphasize the contrasting dispositions. While I like the cover, the names seem a little too obvious with the personalities. I felt their names made them less believable.
