“Switch” takes place in a world where time has stopped. It’s been June 23, 2020 every single day for months. People have tried to figure out what caused the earth to plummet into this freeze in time and space but no one can figure it out. This story focused a lot on one family’s issues during this uncertain time. Tru’s family is falling apart, her house is shifting like a rolling ball, magical powers appear.. A.S. King has a writing style unlike anything I have experienced before. At first I found it really hard to follow but once I got to the middle of the book, I couldn’t put it down. I read most of the book in one day. This is definitely one I might have to reread to fully appreciate but for the most part, I was really surprised and satisfied with where the story went. I appreciate the slow reveals throughout. It was quite fitting as well to read this book about the world stopping for nine months in 2020 and watching people just try to navigate this new life with as much normalcy as possible.
