When reading the First Look I'm immediately struck by how strange this book feels. Not only is the writing style quite unique, but it reads a tad like magical realism and a tad like surrealism. Like with the boxes being layered but she's able to go in and out. How does a series of boxes with holes protect anything at all?

I also like this idea of time being stopped, yet people are still aging and crops grow. It brings up unique questions of if time is really real at all that I hope get answered as the book goes on. If time is still physically going on, but clocks stop, how necessary are clocks, if at all, to the concept of time. Has time truly stopped if people are still experiencing the effects of it?

I love these questions that I'm already having in the first couple pages. It's a promising sign of a good book
