This story just isn't for me. This is a very thinly veiled allegory for the COVID-19 pandemic. Personally, I never want to read a book about the pandemic, allegorical or otherwise. On top of that, I don't find the characters very compelling and the worldbuilding wasn't super solid. King does have a very unique writing style that I enjoy, and I'd love to read one of her novels about a different topic.
