I have been a David Nicholls fan since reading "One Day" and "Us" given how sharp, yet digestible his writing is about relationships -- both familial and/or romantic. There is humor that seeps into his writing that keeps his insight realistic and that personally draws me in as a reader.

As a sixteen year old, Charlie Lewis is dealing with his parents recently splitting up, as well as, recognizing his father's depression. He's failing at school. However, he stumbles across rehearsals for a production of, "Romeo and Juliet" and then gets the part of Benvolio. But why does he stay? He's falling for Fran Fisher -- the girl playing Juliet.

When it comes to falling in love for the first time, the memory is never pristine and David Nicholls locks that in perfectly in his writing. He writes about the regret and the relief; the cringe and the emotional.

This read is definitely worth it. Loved it!
