White "Sweet Sorrow" was a cute coming of age and love story at it's core, i feel it was entirely too long. Parts of the book felt so drug out and didn't add much to the actual story. It also jumped around the timeline without much warning, so at times that got confusing. I was also hoping to be able to learn more about charlie and Fran's lives after that first summer, but that part of the story felt rushed and unfinished. David Nicholls' writing was a little long-winded for my taste as well. The shakespeare theme was cute, but at times felt so worst that I would get lost and end up skimming. I had to push myself to finish this book, and while I have seen great reviews for it, it wasn't my cup of tea. 2 stars.
