Beautiful, but slow

I really enjoyed this book. I had loved David Nicholls' writing in One Day, and was very excited to receive Sweet Sorrow. The story line in Sweet Sorrow was great and had potential (plus, who doesn't love a coming of age story?). The writing is beautiful and flowery as well - Nicholls can truly tell a beautiful love story.

However, there was SO much to read, but it was so hard to get through. The timeline jumped around a lot, and there was so much information that it didn't feel like we needed. In addition, I would've loved a bit more about Charlie and Fran's first summer together.

Remember to keep your tissues handy, especially if your first love meant a lot to you.

Thank you Bookish First and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for my copy of this book!
