A little slow, but overall a feel good novel

I really enjoyed Nichols other books like "Us" and "One Day", but "Sweet Sorrows" wasn't as good for me as I expected it would be. I mean, I enjoyed it, but I struggled with the pacing. It's a bit of a slow burn, but overall, it's a good book.
This is a coming of age novel that is heart-warming, light-hearted and well-written and it takes you back to those days and feelings of when you were first in love with someone.
I would call this a rom-com at heart with some emotional aspects and it deals with a lot of the usual teen stuff like insecurities, emotions, jealousies, and teen angst.
I think this would make a pretty great movie if it were polished up a bit and had just the right actors in it for the draw.
