While the book seems pretty easy to read I just am not drawn in. Perhaps it's because in my mind the book struggles with an exact audience. To me, when I hear coming of age, I think the audience is people in that delicate stage coming to terms with who they are and beginning to develop an identity. In reading "Sweet Sorrow" though it seems pretty clear that the audience is not mean to be that age group and instead is more of a nostalgic look back at a past.
While that is a completely valid audience it wasn't what I was wanting or hoping for. This book just didn't work for me though those who want to look back lovingly at youth gone by may find enjoyment in the text.
