Not my favorite sci-fi fantasy but I can see what people like about it.

I personally did not love this book. It felt too militaristic and dystopian in a way that was more extreme than other popular books out there (divergence, hunger games, handmaids tale, etc.) That said, when I learned about the history of the book and how long ago it was written and just recently translated I appreciated the quality of the work. There must be a bit lost in translation though because some parts felt a bit convoluted. Overall, while I wouldn't necessarily read it again or rate it as a top book there are people that I feel confident I could recommend it to and that would enjoy it. It is definitely an interesting and unique concept for sci-fi fantasy novel and unlike anything I've ever read.
