A star hidden eight light years away has gone supernova and only children thirteen years and younger have the chromosomal adaptions to survive. In some ways this seems intricately thought out. So much so that trying to explain what happened and how things will work supersedes actual storytelling. But some of it doesn't make sense - like what are all these kids going to eat and drink when plants and animals are dying off? A clear delineation in a genetic mutation is a big stretch. At points it is incredibly technical, at points very childlike. It has potential but doesn't entirely all gel together for me.
