I received a copy from Penguin Random House in exchange for an honest review.

David Yoon’s newest teen contemporary book, Super Fake Love Song, is an adorable and fun young adult read that showcases what happens when a truly shy “nerdy” kid breaks out of their shell and how it could change them.

I love reading stories about a main character that’s drastically different from who they used to be in the beginning. This is exactly what I saw here.

Our protagonist, Sunny, truly grew from the shy and insecure teenager he was in the beginning of the story as he learned about himself and others around him.

Sunny’s character was well rounded and established.

I loved the way that David Yoon began his story. It was so cliff-hangery and suspenseful and you really just jumped into the plot right off the bat.

I enjoy reading about characters madly blush or get flustered and nervous and I was not disappointed with the way Sunny adorably handled things.

Overall, a pretty great read if you’re looking for a sweet contemporary set in high school. If this had been a movie in the early 2000s it definitely would’ve been successful in theaters.
