Painfully Perfect
Once again David Yoon has captured the pain and agony of high school years, this time with a nerd at the center of the story (I won't explain how I know his descriptions are accurate). And once again, his humor shines as it did in Frankly in Love, with everything from the discrepancies among the students - the girl at the next locker who gives him "broadcast quality eye-rolls" or the nemesis of his origin story - "Gunner weighed fifty-two thousand pounds; I weighed six." Or Gunnar's "illiterate gollum of a sidekick" - I'm laughing and cringing, but I can't wait to see how it all unravels.
