Sunny definitely doesn't have the same interests as most of his classmates, and is regularly picked on by the football playing bully. But that doesn't mean that Sunny is particularly nice either. Rude to his teachers and parents, the only people he seems to care about being nice to are his two friends. While some of this may be typical teen boy self-centeredness, I can't say that it makes me overly fond of him as a protagonist.
