Fantasy nerdism and musical fakery
David Yoon's writing is entertaining and easy to read. His narrator begins the story by breaking the fourth wall and directly addressing the reader. It's a clever writing device that instantly builds camaraderie with the protagonist, in this case, high school student and self-proclaimed nerd (with plenty of references to Dungeons and Dragons) Sunny Dae. This is one of those books that seem more character-focused than plot, which makes it right up my alley. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of Super Fake Love Song.
