Even though poetry itself is considered a genre, within the sphere of poetry, there is such diversity of expression. The first impression of Zig Albert's collection, Sun Memos, is reflective and introspective. It certainly seems like he has assembled life lessons he's learned throughout his career and travels around the world. Some pieces here demonstrate that a few, well-chosen words can capture emotion or make you pause to ponder. Overall these poems all encourage the reader to stop to appreciate moments around you. There are other poets whose prose I find more compelling, powerful, and nuanced, but I appreciate that there are nuggets here.
