I don't usually read poetry but the cover was so pretty and man, even if I don't win this book, it'll probably be the thing that gets me into poems. This excerpt feels kind of all over the place, like they took bits from different poems in the book and fit them into 30 pages, but it still hits you right in the feels. "two for one deals" only has four lines, but after reading them I had to stop and sit there and reconsider my life for a few minutes. Don't even get me started on "questions for self" or that poem about impassable secrets because I read them and just stared at the wall for a ridiculously long amount of time. Poems always made less sense to me in a book than in a song, but this compilation might convince me to give them a chance. I need this.
