Lauren Munoz's "Suddenly a Murder" reads like a real-life Clue game with teens. The locked-room mystery even occurs in an old mansion complete with hidden passages. The main character, Izzy, is invited to the 1920's themed party that her best friend Kassidy is throwing. As the story progresses, we learn that all of the party members have secrets that they are hiding from each other. Munoz used flashback further explaining the teens' relationships.

Unfortunately, I struggled with this one. All of the characters (including main character Izzy) were unlikeable and I wasn't invested in their relationships. Also, I felt like I expected more from the 1920s themed party that is mentioned in the book summary. However, other than the mention of 1920s clothes, the theme of Kassidy's party just seemed forced. Also, the writing style of 1st person party info, and 3rd person flash backs made the story seemed disjointed.

Overall, I feel like YA readers will enjoy this one!
