The character art at the beginning is such a wonderful surprise! I love having character art and was pleasantly surprised to see it in the standard edition.
The writing feels immediately clunky but it stars to iron out a bit as you continue through the first few pages. I am a fan of He's previous work so I know this is sort of their style in writing but it is a bit off putting at first.
The First Look did not feel like enough I need the rest of this now! Once I adapted to the writing style I was instantly in tranced in the story being set up and learning of strategies. The first few chapters set you up with the characters, and part of their backstory. I like books where I know I am going to learn more about the main characters and not just a surface level story.
