Strike the Zither sets itself at a fast pace from the start. It also sets up the conflict that Zither has boiling inside her. Thus, tension is already thick by the end of chapter 1. By chapter 2, everything is flipped on its head. There’s a plan, but the author cleverly decides to unravel it slowly. This definitely intrigues and keeps me wanting to read more. The language is a bit modern than I’m used to, but there is a disclaimer at the front about writing liberties taken about time and place. The art on the cover and inside are all beautiful. And, my favorite, there’s a map! Maps really make the setting come alive so readers can track the action. I think this is a promising start to an engaging, fast-pace story. I look forward to reading more!
