This is not my normal type of book, but the First Look really spoke to me so I decided to enter the raffle. I appreciated that this book did not only discuss ways to "stop missing your life," but was written in a way that makes you stop reading and do a specific task that the author wants you to do in order to really LIVE the message of the book - Presence. I particularly appreciated the section on trauma and learning that not only big incidents like violence are trauma, and what makes something "traumatic" is its effect on our sense of safety. I also really appreciated the chapter on fear and how it holds us back, and how cultivating curiosity is a way to counteract that.

The author's tone is knowledgeable but approachable, which I really appreciate, and he doesn't try to force his way of doing things on you. He shares the journey that he has been on and offers an approachable way of undergoing a similar journey if you are so inclined. If you find yourself anxious and constantly on your devices, I recommend reading this book and trying out Presence.
