Man! This was a tough one to read at this particular time. With so much going on in the world right now, I found it very difficult to move through this book without getting bogged down.

However.......I will also say that this book is TIMELY. What a fantastic time to read this book, in the midst of the madness around me. Just because something is hard doesn't mean it's not worthy.

This small book was packed with information and exercises. I opted to read through it at this time for the purposes of review and go back through it again to work through the exercises. Muscara is a great writer - he has a very conversational tone and this book is very readable and easy to understand. Stop Missing Your Life primarily touts the benefits of mindfulness. You might wonder how a 200 page book was written about meditation! But it's more than just meditation - it's about probing deeper into the "why" of the prevalent culture of mindLESSness. Exercises to tap into releasing pain, becoming aware of our bodies as well as our minds. Exercises to deepen relationships with others. Exercises to bring mindfulness to our use of technology. There is a lot of information and practice tucked into this small book. In addition, Muscara's website also contains multitudes of information and resources, which are heavily referenced throughout the book. It was clear to me that Muscara wrote this book because he experienced transformation by strengthening his mindfulness and meditation practice and he now wants to share what he's learned with others. I'm so glad that I read this book and I do think that it provides an easy to follow guide to introduce newbies to the art of meditation and mindfulness. I look forward to beginning my practice!
