I'm all for a bodyguard x celebrity and for secret missions and huge stages, so I'm not sure why this wasn't it for me. I think the characters were rather weakly fleshed out in order to rush the story, and that some of the backstory flashback moments were deliberately cut to make the book longer; that uneven cadence of too much present plot, and too little background. I think both Winter's and Sydney's characterizations suited their roles, but were stereotypical and unmemorable, in contrast to Lu's other characters and works. In all honesty, this is my least favourite of all her stories.

However, somethings that I really enjoyed was the quick pace and the witty banters. This book checks all the boxes for fun tropes, and the secret spy and forbidden aspect make it so juicy. Her writing flows together nicely and the chapters are not too long. Overall, this was a fun, easy read.
