Stars & Smoke opens with two chapters that drew me right in. I love the fish out of water concept of a superstar being recruited to help on a spy mission. Add to that two intriguing pieces of the main characters back story, his mom seems to have some memory issues and his brother died perhaps in different circumstances than he thought, and I’m fully in. And there’s hints that an enemies to lovers story may be added to the mix? Lu knows how to tell a captivating story and I’m excited to see what she does in this new genre. The beginning holds so much promise!
