The free-verse style of this book surprised me. Lately, I have actually been wanting to read poetry, but I was not a fan of this writing. Admittedly I do not know a lot about poetry, but this just didn't seem to have any rhythm or flow to it like other free verse I've read. I feel like I would have liked this a lot better if it was just formatted like a normal story and the author kept the attempt at writing poetic prose without the poetic spacing. It just wouldn't feel so forced and like it is trying quite so hard. But again, what do I know?
