This is an exceptional start to what is sure to be an impactful and important read. El's voice is so strong and well developed and her observations of the world are very well done. The family dynamic presented is one that I think is incredibly important and I appreciate the nuances in their distinctly different treatment of El. I am intrigued to read more about El's interactions with kids her age and also her sister. This is very well done.
