This story was very unique in that is that it addresses a topic not many people I know want to talk about and brings to light how rude comments can make people feel. I feel like the author choose really well in deciding to write this story as a poem. The idea of poems and the way they are written makes the words have even more of an impact because you can feel the emotion behind the words and how deeply she feels. I found myself getting caught in the melody of the poems and truly meditating on the words. I think that the whole plot of the book has a great moral and could definitely help a lot of people. Especially since this is a middle grade, I think the book gives a wonderful message. I could definitely see this book being one that is read in schools for middle graders.

Unfortunately, even though I think the story and its words were very well thought out, I don’t like the cover personally. I see how younger kids could love the bright colors and vivid imagery but for me I prefer more mild colors and a simple patterned design. But the cover does fit very well with the story, because it has a bigger sized girl and the patterns pool water.
