This book is an account of how it feels to constantly being told how much to eat, exercise, diet, etc. It is easy to sympathsize with Starfish as she struggles to be happy with herself and ignore the comments of family and friends.
One aside. She claims to know she is "too fat" from each childhood. I don't think children feel this until they go to school.
