I don't read very many books written in verse, but the poetry used to tell this story was enjoyable. It told the story with the right amount of detail and cadence. It was hard to read the inner monologue of the main character without it hitting you hard in the heart. However, the humor and outlook that the character shows in the excerpt is refreshing and heartwarming. I'm already rooting for her and can identify with her. Seems like a story about a tough topic but with a real, honest viewpoint. Looks promising.
