This book was 1000% a pleasant surprise! I don't think anyone will expect the turns and twists that it undergoes, but it made the reading experience worthwhile. I cannot wait to try Matthew's other books because this is the sort of science fiction that I WISHED existed. I always find myself disappointed in sci-fi but not Star Splitter.
If you've read and liked Contagion by Erin Bowman, then, you'll definitely enjoyed this book even more. Comparing these two books was a big part of my initial reading stage of Star Splitter, but once the story gets going, they couldn't be more different. The thriller element is stark for both of these books, but there's a foreboding tension that never leaves you in Star Splitter for a pretty intense reason. You wouldn't think teleportation could get very tense for characters, but y'all my expectations were trashed almost immediately haha. I was scared!!
