From the very beginning, I knew this would become one of my favorite sci-fi books. The prologue alone was amongst my top 5 favorite prologues I have ever read.
The story follows Jessica, as her body is scanned and printed outside of Carver 1061c in preparation for her parents exploration of the planets volcano. The scanning and printing of bodies alone was enough to capture my attention. I wanted to learn more and more about the technology, implications, and human mindset around this.
I also absolutely loved how the book goes back and forth between before they landed on Carver 1061c vs. after they landed. You are figuring out, with the main character, what exactly went wrong to bring about this new reality she was in. It was mysterious, kept me on the edge of my seat, and rattled my brain with each and every page!
I am so hoping there is a sequel of some sort or that the author has more books on the horizon because I love the writing style!
