"We've looked and looked, but after all where are we?"

One of the best parts of reading First Looks is having a chance to explore genres outside my typical wheelhouse. Science fiction has never been my go-to, but reading this generous excerpt of Star Splitter definitely hooked my interest enough to make me want to keep reading. Author Matthew J. Kirby does a great job of balancing strong writing and character development with world-building and suspense. Chapter 2 reminded me a little of Andy Weir's Project Hail Mary (which is a good thing!), dropping our main character right into a harrowing situation, seemingly alone in space. Star Splitter is definitely one I'll keep reading!
