The cloning to solve the transportation issue is something you do not see in a lot of young adult science fiction. I knew immediately when they mentioned the cloning that it was going to be an issue. Starsplitter reminds me of Goddess in the Machine which I liked too. I like that there is an immediate mystery inherent in the story. The conflict is obviously going to be possibly between if the clone gets to live (or is telling the truth).
