In this excerpt we meet Jessica. The narrator us talking about a memory of meeting her and that he knew she was special. The way this is narrated about Jessica and spoken in past tense automatically makes me wonder if Jessica is alive at rye end of this book. She was only 17 when her parents basically forced her to transport to another planet in the past. She hasn’t seen them in around 7 years yet they are still able to make this life changing decision for her. Jessica has accepted it but she doesn’t want to go.
