My first thought of the summary is that it reminds me a lot of Contagion by Erin Bowman and a little bit of Across the Universe by Beth Revis. Both are very good YA Sci Fi books and Star Splitter has the terrifying horror element of Contagion. After reading the First Impression, I'm excited to continue the story and find out what awaits for us.
