A book about rejecting a cast system and rebelling agents a corrupt status quo is always one I’m going to enjoy, especially if the book has fantasy elements pulled from real life mythology ( Japanese and Indian in this case). The plot of this book is solid and engaging if a bit slow at the beginning. I have some mixed feelings on the way the book is told, I think that this many points of view is risky and sometimes can be a bit frustrating when there are some characters/story’s that are more compelling than others but it ended up working well enough for this sort book. The characters and dialogue weren’t my favorite and the romance felt forced and a bit too edgy but I loved the intense world building and the complex almost science like nature of how magic is used and understood in this world. This is a promising book that is catching form the cover alone and I can’t wait to read the next one!
