Spin of Fate provides an interesting, well-thought out world and characters that are both flawed and relatable in a promising first installment of The Fifth Realm series.
In a unique world that's governed by the Toranic Law system in which forces separate people into different realms based on the 'spin' of their souls. Those who are in lower realms live in a world filled with violence and poverty, while those in upper realms live in a prosperous, kind world. You can change your spin through your thoughts and actions. Aina, one of the rare people from a lower realm who is able to ascend to a higher one, desperately wants to get back to the lower realm to find her mother. To do so, she joins a rebel group and finds herself training alongside Meizan, another lower realm-born recruit, and Aranel, a higher realm recruit. Soon, these three find themselves at the center of a potential war and unraveling secrets about the world that they live in.
I really enjoyed this first installment, which does a great job at setting up the world and introducing us to the main characters. I'm excited to see where the author takes the story in the next book!
