The story starts with no fluff, right into action. The main character and her mother are starving in Malin in the lowest castes. Malin is a terrible place where starvation runs rampant and its citizens are always on attack. Right away I was so interested in this world and the class system. I'm desperate to learn more about channeling and the world beyond Malin.
