I won a copy of this book from BookishFirst. This book paints a realistic (as far as I know) picture of abuse from the perspective of the victim and the victim's best friend. Most of the book is very sad and at some points cringe worthy. The abuse that Sparrow suffered at the hands of her mother is agonizing to read about and how that abuse made her more vulnerable to Tristan is even more so. The guilt that Lucas feels for not telling someone about what he suspected Tristan was doing to Sparrow is horrible. Reading parts when Sparrow blames herself for Tristan hitting her almost made me want to cry. I am glad that they were all eventually able to come to terms with what happened and that Sparrow found her voice.
