What’s most intriguing about the first handful of pages in this novel is the lightness with which it’s written. There’s such a power in knowing that within the course of this book, the first encounter between the main characters will ultimately lead to a dark and devastating ending. Already, it is clear that Tristan is a charming young man that hopes and intends to impress Savannah. Savannah, seemingly quiet and reserved, represents many of us who never realize how one moment can drastically change life. It will be interesting and I’m sure ultimately heartbreaking to watch Savannah find the courage and voice needed to rebuild from the harm Tristan will ultimately inflict.
