Sparrow’s voice is that of a girl becoming a young woman — she’s not yet in control of her own life. Her teachers, dance instructor and father are still calling the shots. That puts some pressure on her to please them. Then she has an accidental encounter with Tristan, a boy who sounds too good to be true. He’s definitely good at persuading people to do what he wants.
