This first impression hooked me immediately. I could picture myself running down the hallway and knowing what it feels like to be late and flustered. Then, the author surprised me with Birdie's pause to appreciate the weather and why she loved the winter in VA. This small peek into this character and her life felt real and I can't wait to read this book.
