I might have been able to read/even enjoy this when I was still in middle school, but the writing is so juvenile and amateurish it's impossible for me to ignore now. Also, with the ham-fisted and borderline creepy way Sparrow and Tristan are set up in the first chapter, I don't trust this book will handle the subject of abuse as respectfully or seriously as it deserves.
