Bao loves Lan, who is a wealthy nobleman's daughter. She sees Bao as someone lower than her and thinks she could never be happy with someone like him. She sees herself with someone wealthy and able to fill all her fantasies!!
So she rejects Bao.
But Bao then gets cursed by a witch, who traps his soul in a flute. And the only thing that will set his soul free is TRUE LOVE.
Lan happens to find the flute and discovers the truth and she agrees to help him, feeling sad for him.
So they both embark on a journey to break the curse and free Bao's soul.
I struggled at first to get into the story, but by the second third part of the book I was really interested to see where the story would go!!
