Beautifully written, but felt a little predictable
This book is beautifully written, and I am a sucker for a good love story, but I have to be honest, it felt a little predictable, which is a little disappointing because I wanted so much to really really love this it.
I was hoping the characters were going to have more of a chemistry given then that were intertwined throughout the entire novel, but for me it just all was sort of underwhelming. I might have been expecting too much from this novel after hearing so much about it, but it something just felt so unfinished for me. I had to keep re-motivating myself to finish it.
I will say that despite the disconnect between Lan and Bao, it was Bao who kept me reading on. I loved his character, I found him to be so charming and loving and I wanted him to have a happy ending.
