This is an adventure story full of magic, fantasy and romance. It starts out with a love triangle between Bao, Lan and Tam. When Bao's affections are tossed away by Lan who believes she is in love with Tam, Bao decides to flee for good. He doesn't get far before running into the River Witch who curses him (much like the curse in Beauty & the Beast).
He has 2 weeks to have someone break the curse by truly loving him. If the curse isn't broken, he will be trapped inside his flute for good.
What ensues after the curse is issued is an epic adventure full of betrayal, threatened war, a budding romance and more. Bao believes himself an orphan, but during this adventure will uncover who his parents really are and what his history entails.
This was a spell-binding, beautiful read.
