The synopsis given for this novel is very compelling, so I knew I would enjoy reading the First Look. The author has a solid, lovely writing style. It is easy to like Bao, the physician's apprentice, and it hurt to read the horrible things Lan said to him in her anger. I would truly enjoy reading the rest of this novel..
