The cover is so beautiful, like a painting made long ago. Bao comes off as sincere and earnest, which makes you root for him. Lan is very different than her upbringing, wanting to see the world and also seeing how she did wrong. Her self-reflection makes her complex and intriguing. I really am looking forward to seeing more of these characters and more of their world!
