The cover is amazing and I love the retelling of little women . Little women is one of my favorite books, so when I heard of this book I had to read it. I read this book in the day. This book follows a black family in the 1860s during civil war period . This has the same heart as the original little women but changed some of the stuff to make it different than the original . I’m happy with the changes.
The family lives in Roanoke colony set up for the formerly enslaved . That is a difference . There are some historical contexts to the time period.
Some of the similarities jo is still a writer but she does nonfiction , Beth is sick in this version to :( , and Meg still wants to be married.
I like the writing , the tone , and the way the plot folds.
If she hasn’t already can Bethany c Morrow do a retelling of more classics please !!
